Cloud Height & Snow Depth Sensors

Cloud Height & Snow Depth Sensors

Snow depth sensor

Snow Depth Sensor SHM31

The laser-based snow depth sensor Lufft SHM 31 stands for millimeter-accurate snow level detection over long distances in all weather conditions without any maintenance, due to opto-electronic/laser based rangefinder technology.

Parameters Measured: Snow depth

Measurement Technology: opto-electronic measuring technique (rangefinder; laser distance sensor) with eye-safe laser

Product Highlights: Determination of snow depth over long distances, heating options allow high quality measurements in all weather conditions, simplified installation due to automatic inclination angle compensation

Interfaces: RS485 & RS232 with UMB, UMB-ASCII 2.0 & SDI12 protocol

Compact snow depth sensor

Snow Depth Sensor SHM30

Compact, reliable and cost-efficient, the SHM30 snow depth sensor reliably determines snow depths up to 10 meter within seconds and with Millimeter precision, due to opto-electronic/laser based rangefinder technology.

Parameters Measured: Snow depth

Measurement Technology: opto-electronic measuring technique with eye-safe laser sensor

Product Highlights: Determination of snow depth over long distances, MTBF (meantime between failure) >40.000h, allows discrimination between snow and grass, very compact and weatherproof housing

Interfaces: RS232, RS422, analogue output

Lufft ceilometer

Lufft Ceilometer CHM8k

The Lidar-based CHM 8k ceilometer detects aerosol profiles & structures, cloud bases, penetration depths, vertical visibility and the sky condition index in up to 8 km.

Parameters Measured: Aerosol backscatter profile, cloud level height, cloud penetration depth, aerosol layer height, cloud cover, vertical visibility, Sky Condition Index

Measurement Technology: Optical (LIDAR)

Product Highlights: Measuring range of up to 8 km (26.246 ft), simple & eye-safe, service-friendly due to modularity, various data telegrams, sensitivity in the range of the Lufft CHM 15k, suitable for the most demanding environments

Interfaces: RS485 (ASCII communication), LAN (Web-Interface, (S-)FTP, NetTools); optional: DSL modem, RS232 for service

Cloud height sensor

Ceilometer CHM 15k "NIMBUS"

Built with the high sensitivity of the used lidar sensor technology, the Ceilometer CHM 15k “NIMBUS” gives you reliable and accurate results at any time of the day or night. It uses long-life laser sources, filters with narrow bandwidth, and high-sensitivity photodetectors to collect data.

Parameters Measured: Aerosol backscatter profile, cloud level height, cloud penetration depth, aerosol layer height, cloud cover, vertical visibility, Sky Condition Index

Measurement Technology: Optical (LIDAR)

Product Highlights: Measuring range up to 15 km (50,000 ft), optimized detection of several cloud layers, simple eye-safe operation, service-friendly modular device design, various data telegrams including raw data

Interfaces: RS485, LAN, RS232 oder Modem V.21, V22

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in the United States and across the globe, we want to let everyone know that Communications Electronics’number one priority is to keep our employees, partners, and customers safe. Here is an update on preparations and steps we have taken to date. Two weeks ago, CE assembled a cross-disciplinary COVID-19 Management Team to actively monitor the situation and make recommendations to leadership. We have been assessing the situation daily, remaining vigilant, and following recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and local authorities. We’ve assembled guidance for our employee teams, pursuant to these recommendations.

As you know, the situation is evolving rapidly, and COVID-19 is affecting people differently, depending on their location and situation. As a result, flexible solutions are needed. CE Senior Management is considering all options, including the possibility of asking staff to work remotely.

While we remain focused on the health and safety of our staff and those around us, we also remain committed to serving our customers. Fortunately, we have technology in place and significant experience with working remotely. We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure we can continue to deliver uninterrupted, high quality service. Operational teams have been working to identify potential needs and strategies associated with full-virtual delivery of services. Project managers and supervisors are actively having preparedness discussions with our teams. Our IT team has been reviewing and testing systems and protocols, to ensure necessary tools and support for staff to operate virtually. Everyone has a role to play.

If you have questions or feedback, you can reach the COVID-19 Management Team at Safety@Talkcei.com.

Being flexible and able to overcome big challenges is part of what makes us who we are. We have the infrastructure, skills, and desire to support each other, while providing the highest level of service to our customers. Obviously, this is a fast moving, fluid situation affecting our country and the world. We will update our guidance and decisions as the situation changes. Please continue to monitor the CDC Website for updates.

We hope that you and your family are well,
