Communications Electronics, Inc. (CEI) a Maryland based corporation headquartered in Timonium, MD was established in April of 1976 to support the mission critical needs of our customers. We have grown from a land mobile radio service center to single source solutions provider for all aspects of mission critical communications. We have over 120 employees in 4 locations that are dedicated to providing our customers unparalleled service and support in Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS), Land Mobile Radio (LMR), In-building systems, Security and Access Control, Network Transport via wireless, microwave, fiber and copper, Cable Locating Support, Network Support, Electrical Support, Field Support, Preventative Maintenance, Installation, Testing, Repair, Tower Site Services (construction, maintenance, Installation and preventative maintenance), Engineering and Program/Project Management.

Our team has been dedicated to supporting Mid-Atlantic ITS requirements for over the last 16 years and we understand the mission critical and public safety nature of the various support devices. Together the individual components work as a system to protect roadway infrastructure and motorist. RWIS stations provide critical weather information that allows access to real time roadway conditions that are utilized in the applying of salt or chemicals in the winter months, accurately place wind restrictions on bridges and protect the safety of commuters. Overhead and portable message signs post vital traffic and safety information to alert motorist of incidents including accidents, amber or silver alerts, wind restrictions, commuting times and other vital information as needed. The CCTV network both fixed and mobile stations monitors roadways and provides the visual connection of real time conditions, assists during traffic incidents and construction and provide a vital link to protecting our roadways. Highway advisory radios fixed and mobile are utilized to provide real time or event notification broadcast to motorist working in tandem with other ITS devices. RTMS and ATR systems provide real time travel conditions for relaying speed conditions along the roadways. All of this information is compiled and transported back to district and statewide operational centers over fiber, copper or cellular data devices. The reliability and accuracy of these devices and their transport is crucial for monitoring the roadways, assisting with management decisions and protecting motorists. CEI is Maryland Department of Agriculture licensed to provide right of way vegetation maintenance, our field personnel are MOT certified for traffic control, we hold Maryland State Highway and State of Maryland Yellow and Green card certifications for erosion and sediment control and we conduct regular OSHA safety training with all support employees.

Our in-house technical service team is comprised of Program/Project Managers, Junior Project managers, Engineering, Senior Wireless Technicians, Junior Wireless Technicians, Facility Maintenance Supervisors, Senior ITS Technicians, Junior ITS Technicians, Senior Network Technicians, Junior Network Technicians, Ticket Processing Specialist, Cable Locator Technicians, Registered Cabling Distribution Designers, Senior Cabling Technicians, Junior Cabling Technicians, Service Support Staff and dedicated on call 24×7 support personnel. CEI’s field support technicians and preventative maintenance experts are outfitted with 4-wheel drive vehicles and all tools and test equipment required to support the installation, testing, preventative maintenance and repair of ITS Equipment. Our technicians are manufacturer trained and certified for Lufft (Sole Source in the State of Maryland), COHU (only authorized system integrator State of Maryland), ISS, EIS, Wavetronics, we are authorized for Daktronics, FLIR and Vicon equipment.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in the United States and across the globe, we want to reinforce that Communications Electronics’ number one priority is keeping our employees, partners, and customers safe. Our team has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure we can continue to deliver uninterrupted, high quality service while remaining focused on the health and safety of our staff and clients. We are fortunate to have ample technology and significant experience with working remotely.

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Motorola Solutions is providing recommended cleaning and disinfecting guidelines for our radios, body-worn cameras and accessories based on our current and best understanding of radio hygiene. Communications Electronics provides a critical service as defined by the Department of Homeland Security. Our business supplies crucial equipment and vital services to fill the urgent needs of telecommunications companies, service providers, emergency responders, law enforcement, and a multitude of private entities throughout the nation. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in the United States and across the globe, we want to let everyone know that Communications Electronics’number one priority is to keep our employees, partners, and customers safe. Here is an update on preparations and steps we have taken to date. Two weeks ago, CE assembled a cross-disciplinary COVID-19 Management Team to actively monitor the situation and make recommendations to leadership. We have been assessing the situation daily, remaining vigilant, and following recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and local authorities. We’ve assembled guidance for our employee teams, pursuant to these recommendations.

As you know, the situation is evolving rapidly, and COVID-19 is affecting people differently, depending on their location and situation. As a result, flexible solutions are needed. CE Senior Management is considering all options, including the possibility of asking staff to work remotely.

While we remain focused on the health and safety of our staff and those around us, we also remain committed to serving our customers. Fortunately, we have technology in place and significant experience with working remotely. We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure we can continue to deliver uninterrupted, high quality service. Operational teams have been working to identify potential needs and strategies associated with full-virtual delivery of services. Project managers and supervisors are actively having preparedness discussions with our teams. Our IT team has been reviewing and testing systems and protocols, to ensure necessary tools and support for staff to operate virtually. Everyone has a role to play.
